In the last two weeks, Okkervil River frontman Will Sheff has bombed the net with different video takes and MP3 downloads of the excellent Lost Coastlines, from the band s upcoming album "The Stand-Ins". In the clip, Carl Newman (he of New Pornographers) stands in for Jonathan Meiburg (he of Shearwater, formerly of Okkervil), and delivers a rousing acoustic performance of the song with Sheff. The Stand-Ins is due out on September 9 via Jagjaguwar. [ Pitchfork ] ...

Thanks to Stereogum for pointing me towards this video. I love David Vandervelde and Okkervil River’s new album The Stand-Ins , so you can imagine that I was quite pleased to see this video. Even more so, actually, since “Singer Songwriter” is one of my favorite tracks on that very fantastic record. Check below for A.C. Newman and Will Sheff doing “Lost Coastlines” together.

Ola Podrida + Okkervil River : The Stand Ins

Okkervil River's Stand In Sessions roll on. We've heard from A.C. Newman, Starry Stairs, Bird Of Youth, David Vandervelde, Bon Iver and Zykos. A lot of those artists are MOKB favorites, so Will and crew really have us captivated with this project. Our infatuation holds strong with David Wingo aka Ola Podrida next to try his hand. David gives his rendition of Calling And Not Calling My Ex. If you missed it, Ola Podrida was one of MOKB's picks to play Hot Freaks! at SXSW this past ...
